WHS Newsletter | 22 January 2021
Kia ora - happy New Year, and a very warm welcome to new and existing Wakatipu High School parents and students!
This is really a ‘pre-newsletter’ with just some key information regarding the start of the school year.
Year Start - please see the table below for key dates. Please also ensure you see the email sent to each student and caregiver by Mr Nathan (which includes 2021 subjects as well as key dates and times).
Year 9s - start school on Friday 29 January at 9am in the Theatre. That afternoon we encourage Year 9 Parents to join us for some words from me at 1:45pm in the theatre, followed by a BBQ and opportunity to meet key staff for your child.
Uniform - all students must be in correct uniform from the very start of the year. Please click here for uniform requirements and Uniform Shop hours.
Please note that while in February junior students are not required to wear the tie and blazers are not compulsory, all students are required to be in full uniform (including tie and blazer) for formal occasions at any time of year - and school photos on Thursday 4 February is one of those occasions.
Buses - run from Thursday 28 January. Please click here for further information regarding timetables and routes. Please do note that at the start of every year there is a period of re-sorting buses and bus runs based on student numbers - patience is required.
Awhi Fund - we are aware that starting and setting up for the school year can be expensive, and we are able to support families financially through our ‘Awhi’ (Support) Fund. If you would like to discuss this please contact one of our Guidance Counsellors.
Lockers - there are still small and medium lockers available for hire for 2021. Students should see the Student Services desk or email firstname.lastname@example.org .
We look forward to getting the 2021 year underway, and will have a more normal newsletter next Friday.
